[Updated below 7th February] Which 2014 candidate for a seat on Argyll and Bute Council paid off Rangers Football Club debt three years ago and can’t wait for the forthcoming EGM?
We will reveal the answer in an update here tomorrow morning, 7th February – but in the meantime, lets see how the guesses go.
7th February update: This has been a piece of fun, with a touch of sleight of hand.
Our thanks to Simon Hart [Comment 3 below] who masterfully narrowed the field for all comers to guess; and our admiration for Sally McVicar [response to Comment 5 below] who was on the money in identifying the sleight of hand [which, unusually, had nothing to do with our inescapable typos, as she suspected it might].
So – step forwards, Andrew Vennard, Oban solicitor, Conservative candidate in the Oban Ward 4 and Ward 5 local by elections last year, active supporter of the Oban Phoenix Cinema – and Rangers fan.
Andrew will be off shortly to the Rangers EGM [and perhaps he could be persuaded to produce an independent report on the occasion' that will determine where the club goes next?].
Last but not lease, here is the proof of Andrew’s action in paying off the Rangers debt in 2012. Click here: img046.
